Herbal Medicine Workshop by Jen Doran

"Herbal medicine is one of the longest surviving practices of medicine in the world and has very strong roots within Ireland. Jen will begin the day by guiding us through an introduction to herbal medicine which will include its history and journey through time to the modern day, its importance in our everyday lives for our health, wellbeing and prevention of illness. Throughout the weekend we will cover some theory to help deepen our understandings of various herbs and how they work within the body along with a lot of practical activities such as foraging, learning about plant identification and herbal remedy making so that you will come away from the day feeling empowered in knowing how to interact with various herbs and make your own remedies and medicine from them." 

Jen is a fully qualified herbalist living and practicing in West Cork. She is lucky enough to come from a family steeped in natural healing with her father and great grandmother both being herbalists with the herbal lineage in their family stemming from Donegal. From a young age, Jen has been immersed in the world of natural health and has explored all avenues from organic farming and growing food & herbs to permaculture to nutrition to herbal medicine. Jens big passion and purpose is creating the space to help reconnect people to their bodies and the earth and believes that herbal medicine is one of the best paths through which to help people find that connection once more to nature, within and without.
