As I sit writing this blog , its almost six o clock in the evening , and I am buzzing from the fact that it is still light out there . I am also buzzing in my body as I have spent a good few hours out in the potting shed , transplanting some of the quicker goring tomatoes and sowing more seeds . I also had to pot on most of last years Hebe's and Elders that I took cuttings from as I noticed they were looking a bit sad , and on closer inspection I found they were just getting to the stage of being root bound in the cell trays .

At the ripe 'young' age of 45 I do get a sore from standing for a long period of time and I noticed it more so today when hunched over the seedlings . I did actually do some yoga stretches before went out but before you think that's my norm , it most definitely isn't something I do regular - rather than something I am going to 'give it a go' to see if it helps with my aches and pains that I am dealing with more and more.
Another job I got round to today was in the polytunnel - and this was with the chard that I planted in the Autumn , having provided us with leaves over the winter , but now also looking a bit worn out , I have decided to cut them all back hard enough now to see if it will encourage new growth . This (if successful) should see us over until I have my spring leaves ready for planting also in the tunnel and these should be ready in a few weeks.
And my final piece of work today was finally getting the grow lights set up and (hopefully) understood. !
I am going to use the grow lights for my seedlings - to trick them into a more favourable place to live - helping them think that spring has truly got underway and that living in Donegal is the place to be ! Lets hope it works although you will have to watch this space for my full opinion on this and usually I look upon this type of technology as a step too far , but if you had of asked me before my heat mats if I needed these I probably would have been just as sceptical then.
It will be next week again until Im back at it folks so have a good week where ever you are and enjoy your garden time !
